Arsenic is one of the most toxic elements known,and the International Association for Research on Cancer and the US Environmental Protection Agencyhave listed it as a Category 1 and Group A carcinogen,respectively.Arsenic can be found in water as a result of geological activities,discharge of industrial effluents,and agriculture applications as herbicides or insectcides.Arsenic contamination in groundwater and surface water (rivers,lakes,and oceans) is widespread in many regions of the world,such as Bangladesh,India,and China.Arsenic contamination causes serious health problems globally via potable water or via the food chain.
