摘要

ASTM D6866 is an analytical standard used to measure the biomass content of waste-derived fuels and their combustion emissions. The standard is based on radiocarbon dating techniques. ASTM D6866 is applicable to solid fuels like municipal solid waste (MSW), tire-derived fuel (TDF), refuse-derived fuels (RDF) or solid recovered fuels (SRF), and sewage sludge. European standard CEN 15747, also based on radiocarbon dating, has been developed specifically for SRF. These two standards have proved to be accurate and reliable tools in determining the biomass fraction of solid wastes and their combustion emissions such that they have been incorporated in various greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting protocols worldwide. ASTM D6866 is recommended and sometimes required in regulations around the world. GHG reporting protocols that incorporate ASTM D6866 include the US EPA’s Mandatory GHG Reporting Rule, United Nations Clean Development Mechanism Methodology AM0025, Australia Department of Climate Change National GHG Reporting System, and New Zealand Climate Change Regulations, to name a few. The CEN 15747 is used to monitor SRF under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme.
