8 kg TNT-Yield Explosion Test Pond Design

摘要

Based on the EXTEST rules, the dimensions of an 8 kg TNT equivalent charges underwater explosion test pond were designed. The pond has a truncated cone with a 48 m surface diameter, a 23 m depth and a 32 m diameter at 20 m depth. The pond has a reinforced concrete wall and a sand-protected bottom. Stress wave superposition method was used to calculate the stress profiles in the pond wall and bottom. Underwater explosion tests with charges up to 8 kg were carried out in the pond. Experimental results indicated that the design was reasonable and the stress analysis method was reliable.
