Since the 21st century, under the guide of the concept of function extension, many energy saving technologies have been developed and widely applied in Chinese steel industry, especially CDQ and TRT. Much progress has been made. Up to 2010, the deployment of CDQ and TRT has been reached to 73% and 98% respectively at key steel enterprises. In the future, many efforts should be focused on improving the real effect of CDQ and TRT, building energy control centers and developing a number of recovery technologies of low-quality waste heat to improve comprehensive energy efficiency of steel industry.
