1. CLTS was introduced in Mali in 2009 at a time when reaching the MDG for sanitation would require 1M people per year to gain access to improved sanitationrn2. CLTS started with a successful pilot in 15 villagesrn3.The National Directorate of Sanitation included CLTS in the National Strategy for Rural Sanitation and began to scale-up throughout the country.
