摘要

Compressed chilly air has recently drawn attention for the effective machining process by reducing environmental loads caused by cutting fluids. This research addresses the experimental characterization of meso-scale grinding process using compressed chilly air. The miniaturized grinding machine tool is developed for experiments. In the experiments, the input variables are depth of cut, feed speed and temperature of compressed chilly air. To characterize grinding process, grinding force, tool wear and surface roughness are measured and compared. It is demonstrated that compressed chilly air is effective to increase tool life and decrease machining forces in the meso-scale grinding process.
