In this paper, we consider a combinedrnspace-time (ST) block coding and direct-sequencerncode division multiple access (DS/CDMA) downlinkrntransmission scheme, where ST block coding is performedrnat the chip level, i.e. after code spreading. Forrnthis scheme we develop and analyze linear joint andrndisjoint ST single-user detection algorithms. In addition,rnwe show that by exploiting the signal structurernimposed by the chip-level ST block coding, blind channelrnestimation (with only a scalar ambiguity) doesrnnot require the assignment of multiple code vectorsrnto each user.
