On the Mean Transfer Delay of a Generalized Repeating Mstage Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request Protocol

We present a generalized expression forrnthe average transfer delay of a repeating M-stagernHARQ protocol that allows for time-varyingrnprobability of error on the feedback channel andrntime-varying feedback-error-induced delays. Thernresulting form supports the no-feedback-errorrnsolution as a special case, and provides insight intornthe sources of transfer delay not obtained inrnprevious results.
