A Wireless Personal Safety Monitoring System for Firefighters

摘要

This paper proposes a wireless personal safety monitoring system developed dedicatedly for firefighters, which enables the firefighting command unit not only to grasp the on-site statuses of all firefighters on a PC display, but also to send the evacuation command to each firefighter in a hazardous situation. To perform wireless communication in ill-conditioned area, a mobile ad hoc network architecture is adopted. Experimental results demonstrate that the feasible area of wireless communication has been expanded by adding relay nodes inside or outside a building on fire.
