SEVA Technologies is developing a new concept of inflators using Ammonium Nitrate as an oxidiser for the post combustion of burner gas. The inflator consists of three chambers: a combustion chamber with the propellant, a second chamber with the oxidiser and the post combustion chamber. The decomposition of the oxidizer, generally Ammonium Nitrate is controlled by the gas flow coming from the combustion chamber. The chosen propellant has a negative oxygen balance and a post combustion of the formed gases occurs at a few MPA pressure. In the presented configuration, the temperature of the delivered gas is identical to the propellant one. With this concept the inflator duration is imposed by the propellant, and the Ammonium Nitrate is the main source of gas.
