Laser ID materials deposition is applied for innerrnsurface coatings of abrasively loaded tools, therngenerative fabrication of inner 3D structures of aerornengines and gas turbines as well as the repair of localrndamages in oil drilling tools. The core element of thernmodularly designed ID cladding head presented here isrna multi-jet coaxial powder nozzle. This nozzle conceptrnpermits a precise powder supply in any weldingrnposition, independently from gravity and weldingrndirection. Thus, not only simple inner coatings arernapplicable, but also complex shaped metal structuresrncan be generated in internal areas with restrictedrnaccessibility. All media supply, such as powder,rnshielding gas, cooling water, is safely packaged insidernthe processing head. The optical elements for shapingrnand focusing the laser beam are interchangeable andrnpermit the use of disc and Nd:YAG laser up to 3 kWrnlaser power. Currently, the minimum ID caliber is 4rninches, and the maximum immersion depth amounts torn40 inches. Current developments aim at the reductionrnof the minimum diameter to 2 inches and increasedrnimmersion depths to more than one meter by usingrndiode laser with high power.
