摘要

The compaction behavior of fibrous reinforcements during Liquid CompositernMoulding (LCM) processes is determined by the material properties and the processrnvariables. The former involves fabric architecture, tribological characteristics andrnflexural properties, while the latter comprises preform draping and mould clampingrnconditions. An experimental comparative study is carried out to understand how anrnadditional process variable, such as mechanical vibrations, may influence therncompaction behavior of dry fibrous reinforcements. Single compaction andrnvibration-assisted compaction tests were performed on plain weave fiberglassrnfabrics using a Dynamical Mechanical Analyzer instrument. The two proceduresrnlead to different fiber volume contents, revealing the impact of vibrations on fabricsrncompressibility.
