Gategory A Operations apply to Multi-Engine Transport Category Rotorcraft and ocnsists of scheduling the take-off and landing profiles based on the "critical engine failure concept" whereby the pilot is assured to either successfully reject a take-off and land in the designated surface area available or,depending on when the failure occurs,can safely continue the flight up to and including his destination.regulations covering the requirements for Category A operation are described in the code of Federal Air Regulations (FAR) title 14,Part 29,Amendment 40 and the Joint Airworthiness Requirements (JAR) Part 29,Amendment 5/11.
