The Limpopo river basin plays an important role in the water supply of Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mocambique. All countires are facing more and more problems with the management of the scarce resource surface water. Remote sensing data of different sensors (Landsat TM and ERS) is used to parameterize hydrological models, crucial tools in the decision making process of local authorities. The paper shows the methods used and the results reached so far.
