Secure USB Connection for Android Smartphones

摘要

Smartphones with truly mobile computing-lightweight, accessible on the go and wirelessly connected all the time-are now a key part of our daily life. Smartphones with ever increasing storage capacity and functionalities could store and access the critical personal or even classified and proprietary information from user's ordinary life and work. Hence, it becomes very important to protect critical data from unwanted access when the phone becomes physically available to others. To address this issue, in this paper we design and implement a system for secure USB connection for Android smartphones, which allows a smartphone connected through a USB port to a machine, to mutually authenticate each other, and to provide a secure connection for their future communication. This system provides data protection assurance for the users with zero tolerance for data loss or breach. We conduct security analysis to make our developed protocol mitigate threats from different malicious attacks and benign failures.
