The urbanization around the center of Tokyo expanded with increasingrnpopulation of Tokyo. The housing establishment and city traffic developed the suburbs whichrnwere once agricultural areas, especially until the beginning of “economic bubble time”rnfrom the late 1980s to the early 1990s when land price and stock increased very much. Thernarea of the Tokyo metropolis already amounts to about 100 km 2 and many cities exist also onrnthe fringe of Tokyo. Land price is a quantified economic barometer which shows the utilityrnvalue of land. It is the comprehensive value which reflects environmental condition and manyrnfunctions of a city. The influence of urbanization affects the land surface temperature which is dependent on the amount of vegetation. In order to evaluate the environmental linkrnbetween the greeneries on environment, and the land price of a residential section, correlationrnbetween vegetation index and land price data of Tokyo, Chiba Prefecture, Ibaraki Prefecture,rnSaitama Prefecture, and Kanagawa Prefecture (Tokyo metropolis) for the period from 1983 torn2002 is investigated. The correlation analysis is carried out in the center of Tokyo station andrn7 continuous buffers of 10kms from the centre of city towards the periphery. This studyrnshows that spatial distance and land price have negative correlation. It is obvious therneconomic bubble time is characterized by a very high land price in the center of Tokyo.rnHowever it had small effect on the price in areas far away from the center. In the center ofrnTokyo and the first ring-buffer it is found that higher topographic areas are more valued thanrnlower areas. Whereas the land price maintains a negative correlation between RVI (ThernRatio Vegetation Index), which is derived from from Landsat TM (Thematic Mapper) datarn(January 1985, February 1996).
