REPORT TO THE GA WARSAW - JUNE 23 1999 BY THE VICE-PRESIDENT TECHNICAL

A first report has already been sent to the National Committees on the work in the divisions and the technical committees (TCs). Now I would like to give you some highlights and details from the divisions. The full report is of course to be found in the quadrennial reports prepared by the division directors. You have been able to follow the work through the presentations in the CIE News where we have asked each division to present its work. We will try to continue this during the coming quadrennium. You should also get continuos reports in each country from your division members who have (or should have) all the information. As we have stressed several times, it is especially important to get feedback from your division member on the work on standards. Which is a very important area for the CIE. By being informed you have the possibility to influence the work before the final draft is circulated to NCs for agreement. At that stage it is always more difficult to make changes. We from the divisions and TCs are very grateful for all assistance we get from the CB in small and big matters; from finding an address to finalising drafts to make them conform with the CIE standards in layout etc. The Board and the NCs should also express their great appreciation of all the work of high class that is performed on the voluntary basis that the CIE has been and is working.
