Methanol is one of the promising liquid fuels for hydrogen production due to numerous advantagesrnsuch as high energy density and high H/C ratios. Additionally, it accounts for biofuel, which produced from biomass.rnAu/ceria (CeO_2) catalyst has been regarded as an effective catalyst for hydrogen production via steam reformingrnreaction. It was reported that not only surface area but also shape and crystal plane of ceria catalyst essentiallyrninfluenced on catalytic activity for many reactions including water-gas shift reaction and CO oxidation reaction.rnParticularly, the synthesized method significantly affects the modification of properties of support. In this work, ceriarnsupports were obtained by hydrothermal assisting with CTAB surfactant with variable synthesis time: 2, 8, 24 and 48rnh. Ceria morphology observed from SEM images point to ceria nanoparticles, which more likely formed nanospherernshape with increasing synthesis time. They dominated (111) plane in agreement with interplanar spacing 0.31 nm. Thernresulting catalytic activity was found that 3% Au supported on (111) plane of ceria-2 h exhibited the highest methanolrnconversion.
