Application of organic input in agriculture has always remained as major constraints. Nisargruna biogas manure (NBM) and Nisargruna Biogas slurry (NBS) obtained from kitchen waste based biogas plant was tested in wheat: maize sequence cropping system. It was found that the treatments with NBM and NBS were at par with chemical fertilizer and there was significant increase of all the studied parameters with respect to crop as well as soil over control. The same trend was observed in subsequent crop where there was higher yield with NBM and NBS treatments. But the yield was reduced in second crop due to chemical fertilizer treatment. Stimulation of microbial and enzymatic activity during the period of plant growth observed after NBM and NBS application which does not culminate only in good yield but also in overall fertility of the soil. Urea contributed to good plant growth and better yield in first crop, but these results were not sustainable in subsequent crop of maize. Thus, NBM and NBS treatments have enhanced the fertility of soil, the effect being more significant in NBS. Soil degradation, which is being encountered after the green revolution in India, can be solved using either NBS or NBM.
