Assessment of Toxic Effect of Pollutant Associated with Dry Sewage Sludge

A field study was carried out and monthly samples from dry sewage sludge basins were collected. The study covers three treatment sewage plants namely, Jahra, Rekka, and Om Al-Hayman. The collected samples were analyzed for heavy metals such as: Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, V, and Zn.rnThe levels of selected heavy metals were below than the public authority limits for the application of dry sewage sludge on farmland. The results of the study recommended that a monitoring program should be implemented, to study further the characteristics of local sewage sludge and illegal discharges from premises that are not connected to the sewage network.
