Artificial liver made by tissue engineering has been proposed as a new potential therapy for liver dysfunction and failure. We investigated that the supportive role of biodegradable collagen matrices in simultaneous autotransplantation of hepatocytes after major liver resection, dynamic angiogenesis in biodegradable devices (BDD) and nondegradable devices (NDD) transplanted into the renal subcapsule and subcutaneous tissue, and the circulation, microvascular integrity, and capacities of endothelial cells (adhesion, proliferation, and migration) after subcutaneous transplantation of both devices.
