摘要

The aim of a bone implant or graft material is to complete osseous reconstruction when self healing of a bone defect is not produced. The use of autografts for bone restoration is frequently accompanied by induced additional pain in the harvest site, increment of the rehabilitation time and risk of post-operative complications. Synthetic substitutive materials are interesting for bone defect restoration and, in this sense, calcium phosphate materials have been applied to bone defect reconstruction when low loads are involved, such as in cranial restoration. Nevertheless, although ceramic materials processing to produce a complex shape part is a costly and delicate task, it is clear that a technique to produce bioactive ceramic implants tailored to the patient anatomical needs would be helpful in the overall defect restoration process.
