This study is the first contribution of PhD thesis research in Economics and Agricultural Policy and Foodrnon the reconverting sugar plant to agro-energy in Italy. The European reform of the sugar industry has led to the closurernof several sugar plants; in Italy nine of them should be reconverted into biomass power plants. In this scenario thernpresent study wants to show the contribution of the implementation of several reconversion projects from sugar sectorrnto bio-energy sector. In total the biomass fuelled power plants will have 187,5 MWe nominal capacity with 1,74 TWhrnelectricity production for year. 96.650 hectare energy crops will be grown.
