摘要

Nepal has complex topography and diversified agricultural practices. By analyzing the situation, itrnis known that soil fertility decline is due to uncontrollable soil erosion and improper soilrnmanagement. It has an overwhelmingly subsistence agricultural economy where modern sciencernand technology practices are of very recent origin. In light of the limited land resources of Nepal,rnimprove soil fertility is one of the key factors to increase agricultural production of the nation. It isrnthe best way to diagnose the sub-optimal of soil fertility for plant growth and its furtherrnimprovement. Soil analysis and determination of N, P, K, OM and soil pH generated meaningfulrnrelationship to drive a technological package utilize for increase crop production. Soil analysis ofrnsamples for 365 different sites of Mahottary district was done during May- June 2002 for itsrnfertility assessment. Sampling sites range from 61 to 808 m’s above sea level. Soil samplesrncollected from all dominant land system of the district were use to assess the current soil fertilityrnstatus addressing soil PH and soil Texture, and also OM, N, P and K content of soil.
