In design processes involving aeroelasticityrnproblems, linear aerodynamic methods are mostrnfrequently used in industry. However, in therncase of transonic and/or high-angle-of-attackrnflow, the critical and non-linear flowrnphenomena are not captured, hence thernobtained interdisciplinary, aeroelasticity resultsrnare incorrect.rnIn the present paper the status of effort,rnneeded to close the fidelity gap betweenrnaerodynamics and aeroelasticity by applicationrnof highly sophisticated techniques, is described,rnas there are parallel Euler and Navier-Stokesrn(CFD) solvers, mesh deformation algorithms,rngeneric fluid-structure interfaces, and last butrnnot least high-performance computing.rnStatic and dynamic aeroelastic simulationrnresults are presented for the X-31A researchrnaircraft wing.
