摘要

This work analyzes the crack pattern of impacted ceramic tiles using experimental and numerical approaches. An experimental set-up with a gas-gun and a high speed photograph system was used, to provide the actual failure of specimens. On the! other hand, a numerical analysis of the tests has been applied in order to compare the material models and numerical codes which reproduce the cracking process. The specimens used are 95% alumina tiles 5 mm thick, 60 mm wide and high, and impacted by 17 grain FSP's at 650 m/s. The tests were recorded with high speed imaging to track the cracking process, using a set-up of four high speed cameras sharing the same lens system. The numerical modelling has been carried out with the commercial code AUTODYN 3D, using Lagrange and SPH processors. Different material models have been used and different mesh size have been analysed. Results of numerical modelling shows that the cracking pattern is reproduced and some material failure models are fairly good in this aspect.
