This paper discusses the penetration capability of shaped charges at standoff distances up to 100 charge diameters (CD), which by far exceed the standard area of their application (2 to 7 CD). The task was to experimentally determine the depth of penetration into an armour target and to develop a computational technique to describe the results. The data obtained considerably enhance capabilities of engineering computations as applied to jet penetration modeling. It is for the first time that computations have been performed for long standoff distances and demonstrated good agreement with experiment.
