HO-02: PEAK SHAVING PLANT AT GRAL. RODRIGUEZ (BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA) AND ITS ROLE TO FULFILL NATURAL GAS DEMAND

This paper addresses the problems and management tools of the distribution system operated by Gas NaturalrnBAN within the global argentinean gas structure, and justify the convenience of having a Liquefied NaturalrnGas Storage Plant, i.e. Peak Shaving Plant in the surroundings of Buenos Aires where happens to be the largestrnconcentration of natural gas consumers in the country. This Plant is a technical alternative to fulfill uncoveredrndemand during winter and besides results to be efficient and competitive when compared with the option ofrnincrementing the transportation capacity of the main pipelines.rnThe paper details the process followed when designing and building the Peak Shaving Plant, the design basisrnand philosophy, its main features and also the main characteristics of the commissioning and operation.
