First Outdoor Positioning Results with RealGalileo Signals by Using the German GalileoTest and Development Environment - GATE

Under the leadership of IFEN GmbH, the Galileo Testrnand Development Environment GATE is being built up inrnsouthern Germany by a consortium of several Germanrncompanies and institutes on behalf of the German AerospacernCenter (DLR) with funding by the German FederalrnMinistry of Education and Research.rnThe performance tests regarding the user positioning performancernwill cover various test scenarios for static andrndynamic cases. The tests will be performed in all availablernGATE operation modes with GATE signals only andrnin combination with GPS. Preliminary test during systemrntesting phase showed already impressive positioning performancernwith dedicated signals and services.rnThe paper gives an overview on the variant test scenariosrnand setups and illustrates the detailed hardware setup. Anrnintroduction in the GATE Backend Receiver Software,rnwhich computes the position solution, is presented. It describesrnthe test procedures and shows the test results. Finallyrnan evaluation on the different GATE services withrnrespect to the positioning performance is presented.
