Durability of Liners, Influences, Effects and Trends

Reliable information on the long-term behaviour of relined pipes under operational conditions is still missing.rnHowever, for economic reasons, operators need to know more about the long-term performance of pipes,rnwhether rehabilitated or not. Therefore, six German operators of large urban sewer networks investigated –rntogether with IKT - the influences, effects and trends during the life-cycle of liners. The operational conditionsrnand the quality of the liner have been evaluated by CCTV-inspection as well as deflection measurementsrnafter two to ten years of operation. Samples of relined pipes have been dug out and tested. IKT tested theirrnwater tightness, elasticity and cracking resistance under laboratory conditions. The results will be presentedrnon NODIG 2002 and lead to conclusions such as :rn1. quality assurance during rehabilitation is a vital factorrn2. operational loads may lead to deteriorationrn3. house connections are often a weak pointrnProducers and operators will have to consider these results in order to make sure that future reliningrnmeasures last longer.
