When water supply and sewer systems are established or need to be rehabilitated the clients/pipe systemrnowners demand/desire a pipe system lifetime of 100 years. This requirement induced DANAS (as from 30rnMay 2002 called DANVA) (Danish Water and Waste Water Association) to undertake the joint task with thernplastic pipe industry of publishing a technical guide whose purpose is to ensure and maintain an appropriaternquality level – a guide that based on present national and future European standards could be a usefulrnquality tool to system owners, consultants, producers, contractors, operational and maintenance staff.rnIn a cooperation between the Danish Plastics Industry, represented by Uponor A/S, KWH Pipe AS andrnNordisk Wavin A/S, Erling Holm Aps and DANAS, the first draft of this technical guide has now been drawnrnup. The guide deals with complete flexible plastic pipe systems based on the demands made by the ownersrnof modern water supply and sewer systems – systems that form an essential part of the infractructure of arnmodern society.rnThe draft will be submitted to Danish Water Works Association, Danish Association of Consulting Engineersrnand the Danish Contractors’ Association for comments.rnThis paper mainly deals with pipe systems in excavation projects, but the paragraphs dealing withrnproduction, quality assurance, approvals (national/European), operation and cleaning apply to both ”Dig” andrn”No-Dig” systems.
