A contemporary challenge is to view transportation property as a strategic assetrnthat could be utilized for socio-economic development. The aim of the research isrnto explore the key contribution of technology to improve property management inrntransportation agencies. This may be achieved by following a systems approachrnthat integrates property management technology with a property managementrntransformation system.rnThe research identifies problems encountered as well as prospects offered byrnproperty management technologies, such as Geographical Information Systemsrnand financial management systems. Exploratory and case study research methodsrnare used to assess the contribution of technology to property management inrntransportation agencies.rnRecommendations are made to improve the use of property managementrntechnologies in transportation agencies to increase socio-economic benefits.
