ASPECTS OF VIDEO AND AUDIO SIGNALS TRANSMISSION IN A FDDI NETWORK

Today we can veerify that the Multimedia technology is changing our way of communication with the world using computers, trying make communication very similar to the way that human beings communicate, that is, using our five senses.rnWith the aim of contributing to the improvement of the transmission of multimedia data in networks, is being developed a project at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina involving transmission of video and audio signals in a FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface) network. It is composed of a study on multimedia networks, the MPEG (Motion Picture Experts Group) standard, the software developed that improves the interface with the user during the creation, visualization, transmission and reception of video and audio signals, the architecture of the FDDI network and the management environment that was created to analyse the behaviour of the FDDI optical ring when transmiting video and audio signals.
