In the paper the concept of a novelty power conversion system for renewable energy sources (RES), based on a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) with uniquely designed stator windings, is presented. In the PMSG two 3-phase windings are used, one of which is connected in a delta, while the second one in a star configuration. At the outputs of both windings two diode rectifiers are placed; these are mutually coupled by a pulse transformer, whose primary winding is supplied by the so-called the current modulator. This solution provides the quasi-sinusoidal magnetomotive force in the stator of the PMSG. The main aim of the presented system is provide a high efficiency of conversion of mechanical energy into electricity by means of a relatively simple structure of the system.
