This paper concentrates on transient stability analysis of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind turbine. As DFIG reacts very sensitively to voltage disturbance especially when it is voltage dip condition, therefore grid voltage undergoes random fluctuation. This work presents the level shifted switching scheme for three level neutral point clamed (NPC) converter topology. A noticeable output performance observed satisfying grid code requirements in terms of grid voltage and reactive power flow as compared to conventional two level NPC converter and three level Flying Capacitor (FC). For simulations, PSCAD/EMTDC software package has been used with practical wind speed data.
