This paper investigates the parallel operation of a diesel generator with photovoltaic (PV)-battery hybrid system as an autonomous ac microgrid. The conventional power-frequency and reactive power voltage droop are incorporated in diesel governor to share the load with the droop based photovoltaic-battery inverter system, in a decentralized manner. Also, decentralized power management based control was included in operating the diesel generator under minimum power limit condition during low-level loading. Also, the operation of the photovoltaic system at off-MPPT under power imbalance and state of charge limit conditions was proposed. The proposed decentralized power management and power-sharing are verified using simulation results.
