This paper presents the effects of Distributed Generators (DGs) on Distribution Systems (DSs), considering different operating scenarios, as well as an analysis of the voltage regulator performance, normally present in DSs. The research has the objective to find the optimal DG coupling point in a DS, in order to achieve power losses reduction and voltage profile improvement, respecting the power quality limits. The system, based on the 13 bus test system of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), was modeled in a Real-Time Digital Simulator. The DG's optimal allocation point is in the bus 675, which presented the greatest reduction of the losses, thus resulting in an improvement in the system voltage profile.
