Model predictive direct power control (MPDPC) has been proposed as an efficacious control strategy for the converters and drives. In this paper, a novel and simple AC voltage sensorless predictive control method for the active front-end (AFE) rectifiers is proposed. In this method the input voltage calculated from the instantaneous active and reactive powers using the input current, DC link voltage and switching state of the AFE. To have a good estimation of the input voltage it is necessary to know the true value in the models of the system. For this purpose, the value of the input inductance estimated based on the model reference adaptive system (MRAS) observers for parameter estimation. The inductance estimation leads to a robust control strategy and accurate input voltage estimation, although the proposed sensorless method works without inductance estimation itself the MRAS method will improve the results. The presented simulation results and laboratory tests validate the performance of the proposed method.
