Zigzag leakage flux modeling in permanent magnet machines with cylindrical magnets

This paper presents a method for modeling zigzag leakage fluxes (ZLF) in permanent magnet machines with loops, xcylindrical magnets. Although ZLF have three types of flu circuited this contribution focuses on zigzag fluxes that are short t impactnwith stator tooth, since this type of ZLF has a significa on effective airgap flux. This method expresses ZLF for permanent magnet machine with cylindrical magnet by some expressions in terms of machine's dimensions and rotor's siposition. Finite element analysis (FEA) by ANSYS Maxwell mperformed to validate this model. Results indicate maximu error about 7.5% between proposed modeling and FEA.
