A photonic approach to generate phase-coded signal with large frequency continuous tunability based on dual parallel unbalanced temporal pulse shaping (DP-UTPS) system is proposed. In DP-UTPS system, in order to realize the different intensity modulation of the input optical Gaussian pulse in the upper and lower branches, sine signal and cosine signal are respectively applied. When the corresponding Gaussian pulse signals are fed into the upper and lower branches, the phase coded signal will be generated. The frequency of the phase code signal can be continuously tuned by adjusting the dispersion value of the linearly chirped fiber Bragg grating (LCFBG). The generated phase-coded signal with large frequency continuous tunability and high pulse compression ratio are verified by three simulation experiments.
