The distribution system lately, has been facing a lot of challenges with the escalating penetration of Renewable Energy Sources. However, mitigation of the problems associated with their integration into the grid, necessitates the presence of storage elements in the system. The Energy Storage Systems, particularly Battery based, has gained popularity in this regard. Yet the cost of these storage units is quite discouraging. Hence a Cost Benefit analysis based optimal planning of storage systems is appropriate. Disparagingly, the uncertain characteristics of the Renewable based power generation and forecasts of load and market prices of electricity is normally excluded from such studies. In the current study a comprehensive Cost Benefit analysis and corresponding optimal implementation of Battery Energy Storage in Distribution Network is proposed. Also the stochastic characteristics of input parameters are accounted for in the model by using two point estimate method.
