A study to increase 24 hour efficiency of distributed generation: Review

Distributed generations are the need of the hour. With increase in greenhouse gases and depletion of fossil fuels, distributed generation using renewable non-conventional energy sources have gained much importance. Among these wind and solar have maximum explored due to their easy access. The most common setback of these distributed generation is there unpredictable nature. The solar energy is not available during night and wind energy can't be harvested above it cut off limit and below cut in limit. Hence when these non-convention, renewable distributed generation is not generating energy, the power electronics devices used in them remains idle. In this paper a detailed study of making use of these power electronic devices used in these distribution generation is reviewed. There are many researchers working on to these problem and came up with solutions to make 24 hour optimized usage of these power electronics devices in such a way that it compliments to grid stability and reactive power management.
