This paper presents a simplified space vector modulation techniques (SVM) for three-phase five-level cascaded H-bridge (CHB) inverter. The proposed method is based on resolving the five-level space vector hexagons into appropriate two-level space vector hexagons. The SVM technique used in this paper significantly reduces calculation time and efforts without reducing fundamental output voltage of the inverter. The proposed technique is verified through MATLAB/SIMULINK. Results are compared with sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (SPWM) technique to prove the feasibility of the proposed method.
