摘要

As per the world potential wind energy mapping, India has a wind potential of 1kW/km2 thought the country. In 1980 per wind machine capacity is 30kW is now gone up to 5MW. However throughout India Small Wind Turbine Potential is available. Hence this paper aims in developing a micro wind turbine of 100 W capacity and study its performance and reliability. Based on 50m Wind Monitoring Station at Gandhigram Rural Institute, Dindigul, Tamilnadu, shows the wind potential of 3m/s is available at 30m height in all the months. Hence the designed turbine has installed in roof tops and able to produce 100W continuous power output. The weight of the machine is very low and the noise produced is also low, the tower should be constructed under bamboo reinforcement. If the system penetrates in rural areas will increase the rural livelihoods in two modes, they are getting reliable power and the unemployed youths will be trained to build and erect this micro wind turbine which increased the employability opportunities.
