Biochemistry analyzers are medical equipment which help to diagnose the state of our health very fast and the assays that are run are very accessible. A biochemical profile is a set of assays that evaluates the functions of internal organs, the enzymes that participate in reactions in our body and the level of electrolytes, which adjust the main vital functions. In order to obtain the best evaluation of the clinical state of the body, the results of the biochemical assays must be precise and accurate. In this paper is described an automated optical method to improve the accuracy of the assays, especially for the tests like total bilirubin, which are very sensitive. An experiment was made on a Siemens Dimension EXL200 analyzer, which has cuvette windows to read the amount of analyte from the cuvette. The automated system consists in assemblies that clean the cuvette windows every time a sample is analyzed in order to maintain the same assay conditions.
