The upgraded version of the prevailing and already established fourth generation (known as 4G) network, has been termed as fifth generation (known as 5G) by mobile network providing companies. A successor of the current 4G, it is the next generation of mobile technology, and is anticipated to be the upcoming major phase in the wireless telecommunication standards. 5G, also termed as LTE (Long Term Evolution) Network, has not yet been assigned any specifications and neither has it been used for any official documentation. It is expected to be launched by the year 2020 and has been talked about repetitively by the telecommunication companies and standardization bodies publicly. This is mainly because any standard release after 4G is still in its incubation period and the unveiling of devices compatible with the current generation is still in the preliminary stages. This paper will focus on this upcoming generation in telephone network and its relation with different technologies such as Cloud Computing, BDMA, Flat IP concept and Nanotechnology. The paper will also address the various changes that the service providers can incorporate in their architecture in future to make their network more receptive for 5G and the expected growth in users.
