摘要

This paper deals with partial discharge detection system in power module of electric vehicle. The structure of high voltage hybrid power module is described. The weak point of the insulation of power module causes partial discharge. Partial discharge may lead breakdown of power module. Therefore it is important to develop PD detection system in power module. Quantitative partial discharge detection requires accurate measurements because of the magnitude of the discharges, which extend from a few pico-coulombs to a few hundred pico-coulombs. Different methods exist to detect partial discharges. In this paper several partial discharge detection system is described. The possibility of existing methods for partial discharge detection, quantification, and localization in power module were analyzed. The importance of measurement and reduction of background noise were also described.
