Here in this paper presents the design of Hybrid passive harmonic filter (H-PHF) and Shunt hybrid active power filter (Shunt-HAPF) to compensate harmonic current produced by a nonlinear load. The H-PHF comprises of a tuned shunt passive filter and tuned series passive filter. The H-PHF is impracticable to use for high power applications because the enormous rating of inductor and capacitor are required. In higher power levels Shunt-HAPF has been a useful approach to eliminate the current harmonics. The control technique used for the detection of harmonic current are synchronous reference frame theory (SRF).
