A novel Linearly polarized antenna is proposed at 1.892 GHz ISM band for implantable applications. Either Vertical Linear polarization property or Horizontal polarization property can be realized by proper positioning of the shorting pins and feed. Through optimization, a compact size of 28 mm × 28 mm × 1.28 is achieved. The effect of embedded depth, the influence of encapsulation layer and SAR performance are evaluated. The simulated results show that a narrow bandwidth can be realized with |S11| below −10 dB and axial ratio above 5 dB. Additionally, Total Gain, Directivity is found to be very high enabling to be implemented for Implantable Medical Devices. Thus ensuring no radiation problems to the skin of the patient. Furthermore, the Linear Polarization enables the implanted antenna's reliability with the Receiver Antenna due to its liberty to be placed at any positions. Thus, the results show that the desired ISM band can be well covered and Linear Polarization property is obtained for the proposed antenna.
