Aeronautical hydraulic axial piston pump is widely used in the aircraft hydraulic systems. The revolution-pressure performance affects the stability of aeronautical hydraulic systems in cruise state. A simulation model is developed for a double-tier constant pressure controlled variable displacement axial piston pump. The revolution-pressure performance is investigated at a speed range of 50-100 % of the rated speed. The occurrence of pressure drop is observed by investigating the revolution-pressure performance, and the cause of the pressure drop is identified using the simulation model. In addition, the effects of several parameters, including the mass of spool, stiffness of spring and number of pistons on the pressure drop are investigated. The results provide guidance on improving the performance of aeronautical hydraulic axial piston pump.
